My name is Joanna Trumino. I was born and raised in Queens, NY. After graduating St. John’s University, I hadn’t decided on a career yet. I decided to venture into the world of animal care and managed a dog rescue and daycare for three years in Brooklyn and Veterinary work for two years in Queens. Desperately wanting to get back into art and wanting to do hair my entire life, I finally took the plunge and enrolled in Arrojo Cosmetology School in 2015. Having learned all the technical and theoretical skills during eight months of training, I pursued an apprenticeship at Arrojo Studio in SoHo. In two years, I learned every aspect of assisting, client relations, precision haircutting, blow drying and event styling that I would need to become the top stylist I am today.
I am proud to have exceeded all of my goals during the last nine years. I have traveled, been on stage, taught demo’s for the International Beauty Show, worked on photoshoots, taught haircutting, blow drying and product knowledge classes, taught private haircut classes and assisted styling events such as Fashion Week, as well as other high-end shows. After many years with a high profile company and an impeccable team, I decided to divulge into a new journey working in my own studio in Chelsea.
Haircutting has been my main focus during the last nine years. I study the art of precision cutting while creating a specific look for each one of my clients needs. My favorite attribute of this skill is giving my clients a haircut that makes them feel beautiful but also suites their day-to-day lifestyle with little to no maintenance. My work includes a combination of classic scissor cutting and straight razor work. My education with razor cutting has been the most exciting and lucrative part of my former training and I take this skill very seriously for an effective outcome.
Here in Chelsea, my team and I have created a fun, relaxed and welcoming environment for our clients to enjoy, as well as ourselves! I work with three of my close friends and colleagues.
